ON THE SLOPES OF THE MARKSTEIN

In summer as in winter alike, the whole family loves the Markstein !

“Summer and winter alike, the Markstein is the ideal place to hang up high, enjoy the great outdoors and the magnificent panoramas that are revealed on either side of the “Route des Crêtes”!
The resort is above all known by winter sports enthusiasts, especially since it hosted the Alpine Ski World Cup in 1983 and 1987!”

IN WINTER

Today the Markstein is a family resort par excellence. The Markstein offers 13 downhill ski slopes, served by 8 ski lifts. For beginners the Markstein has an initiation area which allows them to progress in stages on green and blue slopes. The Children enjoy a special area which is dedicated to them.
For the more seasoned and “riders” looking for thrills, the resort also offers a slalom park, a snowpark and a boardercross!
Cross-country skiers and skaters are not forgotten with about 40km of marked and groomed Nordic trails.

Put on your snowshoes !

The resort also has several snowshoe walking itineraries on the crests and in the undergrowth to mix the pleasure of contemplating the snowy expanses with physical activity.

IN SUMMER

The Markstein is also a very lively resort in summer, well known in particular by free flight fans since a round of the world cup was organized there in 1999 and the Treh base is regularly used by many practitioners. Moreover, if you dream of flying around in liberty like a bird, the Markstein school center offers paragliding initiations in pairs with a qualified instructor !

Still adrenaline rush, but closer to the ground: a bikepark inaugurated in 2019 makes it possible to enjoy the pleasure of downhill mountain biking without having to pedal to get back up! The 6 trails, classified as green to black ski trails according to the level of difficulty, use the movements of the terrain and natural obstacles to achieve routes in the purest tradition of enduro mountain biking!
For those who like to ride their bikes up as much as down, the ascent of the Markstein by road benefits from specific markings allowing to know at each kilometer the percentage of slope of the kilometer to come and the remaining distance to the summit !

Even in summer !

Still in terms of thrills but in a more family-oriented register, the sled on rail allows you to feel the thrill of speed in complete safety on a 1.2km long track and 13 curves in a racing car hurtling down the slope at nearly 40 km/h!

At the foot of the rail sled, a miniature golf course and archery (only in summer) offers you the opportunity to measure your skills!

For the small and big hungers, cafés, snack bars and restaurants are open all year round on the resort. Several farm inns and mountain inns are located on the ridges around the Markstein. These are all hiking goals starting from the Markstein.

“Just like the “snow shuttle” in winter, a “shuttle of the peaks” makes it possible to join the summits by bus from mid-July to mid-August!”
