Mythical places

With a rich and varied heritage open to different influences while remaining loyal to its traditions, Southern Alsace is a region with character whose history is the stuff of legends and real events.
At the heart of this region, half-way between Mulhouse (23 km) and Colmar (25 km), the Pays du Florival offers visits to numerous sites that reflect this rich heritage shaped by an eventful history.
Four tourist sites are cited in the reference work Mytische Orte am Oberrhein by Edith Schweizer-Völker. Among these, three are already part of the association of Lieux Mythiques (Mythical Places) and are referenced as such: the St Gangolph chapel at Lautenbach-Schweighouse, the Schaeferthal chapel at Soultzmatt, and the Bollenberg chapel at Orschwihr. The fourth monument cited is the Murbach Abbey that should soon become part of this network.
