    A colourless spirit usually taken at the end of a meal Typical produce of Val de Villé, the valleys of Orbey and Lapoutroie, eau de vie, or Schnaps, is distilled from a broad variety of fruit and berries. As well as the companionable Kirsch (cherry or wild cherry eau de vie) which adds a delicate aroma to cakes and pastries, Plum, Mirabelle, Raspberry and Pear eau de vie is distilled everywhere in Alsace, not forgetting Marc de Gewurtztraminer. And though less widespread, you can also find Sloe, Holly, Elderberry, Quince, Gentiane (root) and Fleur de bière (hop).
